Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF)

The Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF) was initiated at Alfred University in 1995 with $100,000 start-up money authorized by the University Board of Trustees. Students, under the direction of a faculty advisor, invest the money in a variety of stocks with the goal of building a diversified portfolio and adding value and growth.

Students have the opportunity to travel to national conferences and symposia to meet with students from other schools and make contact with professionals in the investment industry.
